SANA

SIPA’s SANA Team, previously known as the Health and Wellness Team, are responsible for improving holistic health and wellness of our HiFi and surrounding community.

(Support, Access, Navigation, Agency)

providing whole-person wellness through core pillars that uplift & empower the community

Filipino Americans and many other communities, including Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC), LGBTQ+ folks, undocumented neighbors, and women, still face real barriers to staying healthy. These barriers come from unfair immigration policies, pain and hardship passed down through generations, and racism built into our systems. The COVID-19 pandemic made these challenges even harder (Sabado-Liwag et al., 2021).

Our SANA/Wellness Department works to close these gaps. We help people get the care and resources they need, and we look at the whole picture of what shapes our health, like housing, income, food, safety, and access to services.

Everything we do starts with listening. We lift up community voices and shape our support around the real lives and experiences of the people we serve. We focus especially on youth and the people who care for them. Together, we build the knowledge and emotional strength to take care of ourselves and each other, grow the next generation of community leaders, and speak up for the lives we deserve (Hoagwood et al., 2002).

Community Education: Knowledge that empowers. Tools that Transform.

Support Groups

We offer safe, welcoming spaces for youth and adults to share, connect, and feel seen. Groups talk about topics like identity, loss, and caring for one another. When our community goes through a crisis, we also hold one-time healing circles for support and reflection. Some groups are open to everyone, and others are closed to protect privacy and safety. Reach out to SANA@sipacares.org for more information.

Therapy Services

We offer free one-on-one, couples, or family therapy with culturally responsive clinicians who center the needs of immigrant, BIPOC, and underserved communities. No health insurance or citizenship status is required to receive services.
