Historic Filipinotown recently witnessed the vibrant and successful inaugural BARYO HIFI event, a celebration that brought together the Filipino American community in Los Angeles, and beyond. The event was held on May 4th, 2024 and was a success, drawing thousands of attendees and featuring a dynamic mix of food, music, art, and community activities.

SIPA has always been a hub and place for Filipino arts and culture to be shared and created in Historic Filipinotown. This year, SIPA held the Historic Illipinos IV: Moving The Needle event, celebrating the significant impact Filipinos have had on DJ'ing and hip hop culture.

PLATO (Pilipinos And Latinos Accessing Together) is a community garden program designed to teach first-time and experienced gardeners alike how to cultivate fresh produce in their own neighborhood

This year, Supervisor Solis selected SIPA to be one of her honorees for the May 10th, 2024 Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month Reception, co-hosted by the LA County Asian American Employees Association (LACAAEA).

SIPA’s Harmony Horizon: Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Solidarity Conference took place on April 27, 2024. Crafted with the intention of uniting high school and college students to explore the profound significance of solidarity and allyship within the AAPI community through a series of community responsive workshops like “what is happening in Gaza?”, a Kali self-defense class, and “what is AAPI hate and how to report it” to name a few.

On Friday, March 29, 2024, the SIPA community welcomed a first of its kind well-being center at the new Lucena on Court housing development in Historic Filipinotown.

SIPA would not be able to accomplish all that we do and continue to grow and serve the people of Los Angeles without our Executive Committee and Board. Filipino American nonprofit organization Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) supported over 2400 community members in Historic Filipinotown (HiFi) through their youth, wellness, and mental health services in 2023 — serving over 400 individuals through their health and wellness services alone. SIPA will unveil a new wellness center in the spring and expand their programming in LA County throughout 2024.

2023 is the first holiday season at the new SIPA HQ in HiFi Collective. The festivities kicked off with the 16th annual Historic Filipinotown Parol Parade.

Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA) — a longstanding Filipino American nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life for Filipino Americans in Historic Filipinotown (HiFi) and beyond through ongoing youth programs, mental health education, affordable housing, and more — is centering teens and their holiday wish lists in an annual toy giveaway on Sunday, December 10th from 10am-3pm at HiFi collective.

Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), now in our 51st year, celebrated the 2023 Barangay Awards & Gala on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at the LINE Hotel. The event was a celebration of the community with this year’s honorees - California Attorney General Rob Bonta, Pastor Danny Cortez (Long Beach Christian Fellowship) renowned Chef Vallerie Castillo-Archer (Philippine Airlines), and DJ E-Man (Power 106, KDAY).

The Homes Within Reach Awards are part of Southern California Association of Non-Profit Housing’s (SCANPH) annual Conference and reflects their efforts to recognize and honor excellence in the affordable housing industry.

Los Angeles, CA, September 13, 2023 - Search to Involve Pilipino Americans (SIPA), now in their 51st year, will be hosting the 2023 Barangay Awards & Gala on Saturday, September 30 at the LINE Hotel (3515 Wilshire Blvd. Los Angeles, CA 90005), from 6pm-10pm. Presented by Philippine Airlines, this evening honors the community leaders and organizations that have worked tirelessly in alignment with SIPA’s mission of enriching and empowering the lives of Filipino Americans.

The new SIPA offices, meeting rooms, community kitchen, and event space are ready to open their doors with a grand opening celebration marking the beginning of the newest chapter in their 50 year journey to serve the people of Los Angeles. The celebration will take place on Friday, June 9, from 3-7 pm; the program includes blessing, remarks, music, open house, light food and refreshments.
